Photographer’s Note
Not everything is depressing in that area, although there are plenty of ruıned buıldıngs around and the whole neıghbourhood ıs slowly beıng destroyed - children enjoy playing with friends in the streets as anywhere else...
(The same lıttle models as here.)
(More infos about that very special place - the oldest Roma settlement ın the world that was almost reachıng 1000 years of age : Sulukule (Wiki) and here too).

Hi Cathrine,
A very touching shot. Although the neighborhood falling apart, there is still bits of life around that are trying to grow...you showed it very well in your photo.

Hi Cath, fascinating little study here. I especially like the contrast between the two girls & the "Banksy" style mural on the wall. Nice documentary shot - and a lovely slice of daily life.

Merhaba Catherine,
Your photos depicts the Sulukule life very well. I particularly like the candidness with the two girls paying no attention to the camera. Composition is well-crafted as usual, with the dichotomy between the children and the graffiti well-defined. Best,

Bonjour Catherine,
Yves.

Hi dear Cath,
Keep this wonderfull capture well in your archive. As this is going to get very soon an "archival value" as Sulukule will not last longer ! Unfortunately.
Here you have again chosen perfect pov and the kids at left are just amazing.
Good entry, good notes.
TFS and best regards

Bonjour Catherine,
needless to say, this is a splendid candid shot with a lot of photographic
expertise in it and as to the kids:
çiçekte tomurcuk, tarlada başak,
hepimizden daha yakın yaşamaya,
sayrılı, uykusuz ve yalınayak,
koşarak oynayarak büyüyecekler

Hi Cath,
Nicely captured interaction between these kids, amid the urban debris (very much in your style, which I like a lot). The graffiti complements well the human element.
best regards,

Bonsoir, chère Catherine,
L'enfance : certains voudraient ne jamais la quitter, d'autres voudraient absolument l'oublier ! Qui a tort ? Qui a raison ?
Une très belle image qui fait réfléchir.
Bonne analyse !

Bonjour Catherine,
Quel beau contraste entre ces enfants souriants, aux vêtements très colorés et ce mur délabré.
Ta composition est vraiment excellente.

Hi Catherine,
Wonderful shot. Depressing ruins, garbage, poverty, probably no torist visit such area. And the children who are playing and look happy, like children in other parts of the world. Good composition. Regards

Sevgili Catherine merhabalar;

A heartwarming image from the depths of Sulukule... I like the colors and how you cleverly made use of the fiction boys on the wall. I further imagined another story, tried a "two boys for two girls" version. See the WS...

Hi Cath,
An excellent shot, captured the children in good moment with an attractive composition. Dark narrow alley makes them stand out much. I like also the combination of strong color and pastel color.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Beautiful use of light and shadow here, Cath. The slightly ominous blackness behind the children contrasts with their everyday childlike body language, a language of play. They are unconcerned about the run-down conditions all around them.
It reminds me a little (at least superficially) of one of my old photos. Regards, Ken.

kids in decaying urban environment are always nice subject... here - additionally you intensify emotions with those vivid colours - this photo now looks more "in motion" than it is in reality...

Hello Cath,
A wonderful dynamic photo showing that children is children no matter what kind of conditions they are in.
********
These people, of the region, are so talented in terms of rhythm and dance... I really love their steps in the 9/8 rhythm. They also call it "romen havasi" which I am sure you already know...even from this dance it is easy to infer that their life is so vivid, so dynamic, so living for the day. This is true I think for their life philosophy.
Best Regards,
D:)
