Photographer’s Note
Muley Point Overlook is a relatively unknown viewpoint in southern Utah right at the edge of Cedar Mesa. The views from this overlook are out of this world. The best photos are taken right after sunrise, when the sun is in the back and the view southwest towards Monument Valley is alight with colors and shades. This photo was taken about 1 hour after sunrise. Right at the bottom of the Mesa are the goosenecks of the San Juan river. Monument Valley is in the background with a morning thunderstorm providing some water to the barren mesas of northern Arizona.

Hi Rik,
Great shot! The colours are awesome - looks like you were really lucky with the weather. I was there about three weeks earlier and had rain and completely overcast skies... That thunderstorm in the background didn't just provide water to the mesas but also a great atmosphere to your shot!
Thanks for sharing, best wishes
Claudia

This photo is very well done. A lot better than most of the photos receiving lots of points at this time.
