Photographer’s Note
The Dead Sea (in Hebrew ים המלח, literally sea salt and Arabic البحر الميت) is - properly - a lake located between Israel (and the territory of the West Bank) and Jordan. The Dead Sea is in the lowest depression to the Earth of 398 meters below sea level. 76 km long and 16 wide an area of 1,000 km ². The water is too salty and therefore there are no fish or seaweed. Hence the name Dead Sea.
It is a terminal lake for thousands of years sought the waters of the Jordan River, Arnon River and other rivers of lesser importance.
It has an average salinity of 365 grams per liter of water (compared to an average of 35 grams per liter of water of the oceans). Thanks to high salinity, which reaches saturation in the south, less deep and therefore more exposed all'evaporazione sun, the waters of the Dead Sea are used for the production of potash is that Israeli society from Jordan. As the waters are rich in bromine and magnesium, these elements are extracted. The extraction is done from the salt at the south. The water of the Dead Sea is so salty to allow anyone to float without problems. The waters of the Dead Sea are known since Roman times for their curative qualities.

ciao, giacomo
