Photographer’s Note
There isn't much to enjoy.
No time.
A road ahead...I walk.
No.
I run.
There is just to much things
that has to be done.
I run.
Not sure where to.
All sights...so dark.
I get lost.
And sometimes I find the way out.
I run.
Road of constant fights.
It's hard.
But I'm lucky
I have my lights.
I run.
Faster and faster...I run.
My lights cannot follow
they're left behind.
Not a spark...
I cannot see my way
I realise...
without them the road
is just to dark.
My lights.
Time passes by
and I don't run anymore.
It's so hard...
To hard to go on.
But I walk
and I feel darkness knocking on my door.
It's cold...
Just now
one of my lights is not here anymore...
But I walk.
Not sure where to...
But I do not mind
as long as I'm not blind.
As long as I have my last light
I walk.
When it's gone
I stop.
Alone.
In a dark.
Just another black silhuette
in a final embrace of a night.

Hi Jeri,
very moody shot. I like the B&W, the various patterns and the spot of light right on this character. Really fits your poem/song(?)

Hi Jeri,
a meaningful pic. The light is shining on the person perfectly..so there should be hope.

Bonjour Jeri,
Beautiful this man alone in its thoughts, just enlightened by a spotlight in this universe so graphic. Solitude of the inspiration? Solitude of the director? Reflection? Depression everything is possible and it is the photo which speaks to each according to the humor.
Bravo!

This is certainly a most exceptional shot, Jeri. The light on the man and the stark contrast with the darkness create a powerful mood. Terrific composition, too. Best,

Hi Jeri
I don't know why all this pessimism in young person and I'm referring to your verse. Greatly combined, of course, with a very specially composed foto, with all those elements that so artistically you can devise and combine. I will take this excellent stylistically foto and just enjoy it for what it is. A melody of stability and play with shapes and contrast.
Well done

Ciao Jeri,
really an excellent image! The scene is very theatrical with the light that frame the man alone in his thoughts, in an attitude almost of resignation and sadness. Great tones of B&W and graphic elements too.
Have a nice evening

Jeri Herman, HI. Stunning new addition to your amazing gallery with this superb black and white post. The strong contrast and saturation making this a beautiful shot. The lines and arches of those chairs with a man on the spotlight is a true genius in composition. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Wonderful capture, Jeri, awesome...
And try, just for a moment:
to not to forget all those lights which have supported you
during all this time.
Don't forget,
don't stop lovin'em:
they're still there, by your side
even if you can't see,
even if you can't hear,
Even if you can't hold them
they're still there.
Just try
to don't forget.
Love,
Patricia.

Perfect capture...
I think this time more words is not necessary...

I find the light a little too strong on your human subject and crave a little more detail but i know only too well how difficult this shot was and I can't fault you on a great composition and vision - the perfect partner for your poem.

First, image captured me from thumbnail... Then poem stroke me deep from heart... You wrote it? Seriously? Oh noo, I must sign "useful" as soon as possible!
Lines and arches of chairs, almost got lost in dark... And the "white" silhouette in the middle of darkness, sitting with his own light. Whatever happens, whereever it takes, however passes... Never lost THE light...
Compliments Jeri, for whole of this amazing share...

dear Jeri,
once, perhaps I and everybody had a glimpse of the scene like this image at anywhere...or in a dream.
and the moment of this instant really be there.
a beautiful picture of lighted dark room.
all objective elements make graceful perspective in it.
actually the light makes the shining person and lighted objects in the dark space so dramatically, that I forget the presence of the dark shadow.
this air hears almost quiet, but as the light shows us it, the vibration of the air sounds the gradation of the sound from lighted accent to vanishing into dark silent shadow.
the sound and the light looks and hears quite parallel in this image.
this real air of feeling is also parallel with these light and sound. it is absolutely calm but it looks surrounded by all the noisy affairs...now those are lost in the gradation of the light and shadow. this quiet stability looks lasting for ever.
I think my impression may be rather different from your poem of note. it reminds me of Zeno's paradoxes "Achilles and the Tortoise".
on your run and walk, or stop, you maybe always view the lighted place like this picture, or wish it. but as far as you run, walk and even stop, you only view it from distance. in my feeling, you really need to jump. to jump over all the space and all the time by your shining imagination that is actually in your picture.
thank you,
Akihisa

Ciao Jeri,
a very nice picture, with a great composition.
The light on the man (woman?) contrasts very well with the dark atmosphere of the site.
But this shot gives to me a sentiment of anguish, of oppression.
I hope that this sentiment can't to go in ours hearts never.
Warm greetings, a kiss...

Hi Jeri
Beautiful poem to go with this simple yet strong and exquisite composition. Unfathomable lonliness is what one can feel in the scene and the arrangement of light and the placement of your shy subject is godsend.
Congratulations for seeing this and sharing with us

Dear Jeri.
I don't know what to say...or how to say it; I am strongly under the mood and the beauty you have created both with your photograph and your text. Such a sensitivity and delicacy for life, its ups and downs, its lights and its shadows. A wonderful b/w where the blacks are like velvet, the light, can I say "divine", although not a believer. Keep on moving...your path is luminous within. My most heartfelt compliments.
Warmest and kindest regards and thank you for sharing all of this.

Hi Jeri,
I love the strong ight exposing the Maestro. (though he may be a Janitor, for all I know) No matter who, he seems deep in contemplation. The rest of the scene is well defined, but muted. There is light coming down the rows to lead to your subject. I think doing real B/W work (not converted from colour, as I and many do) must be difficult. This one is very evocative. Very moving poem as well. I can't write like that, but can admire it.
P.S....The workshop is good, but the unbroken line of seats seems to close the subject off. it is perfect this way.

dearest Jeri, another one of your magical intense shots. keep running, the light is always around the corner
I love the strength of this image with benches and chairs expectant to receive people and one person who seems to have lost all expectations and hope, looking down in a pose devoid of all future
but yet there is light above him and on him.
maybe the apparent loser is indeed the chosen one and life, just like salvation and hope may come from the least foreseeable sources
sorry teher are only twopoints to give, no number would be adequate

without night we would not appreciate day, without cold we would not appreciate warmth, without lonelyness - friendship, without sadness - joy. and that's how I look both at the verse in the note (beutiful) and the photo (beautiful).
powerful image, the strong and rutheless geometry in the foreground still cannot overtake the fragile shape of the man, and I admire how you have used the light to tell the story. exceptional work, Jeri, my sincere compliments.

Kristine

Uf Jeri,
krasna.

Hi Jeri,
you're the owner of a lovely gallery, you know :) I stopped by this photo because it 'stroke a chord' in me (and i don't even wanna think why)...so graphical in composition, so poetic in meaning.
I see you 'handle' the lines in composition so easily (professional deformation, eh ;)), I think they are your strongest point, in almost every work of yours.
warm regards

Živ.

Spotlight on sadness....so well depicted by the repetitive patterns at foreground that could symbolize drivel talk of some elders and by the surrounding darkness, image of solitude.
Cheers.

Hi Jeri,
Don't ask me why, but this photo to me is inspiring. It is probably the setting and the mood make me want to pray and reflect on the bright side of things.
