Hello, I come to present a small place in the middle of Paris to you that I like to attend Sundays morning at the small day.

La Tournelle bridge.

There were several bridges in the site of the current bridge.
This is a particularly delicate place of the Seine.
To connect "Saint Louis" island in left bank, a first bridge (out of wood) was built in 1370 and was carried by water.
Another temporary bridge, also of wood, replaced it about 1620, and this time, is the ices which destroy it in 1637.
It again is rebuilt and demolished by the floods of 1651…

Rebuilt out of stone of 1664 to 1656, with 6 arches and baptized with the current name, its apron strongly curvature slowed down circulation seriously.
Work of restoration was undertaken at the beginning of 1847, the contiguous quays were spillplates, to preserve about the height of the arches, and an iron reinforcement to consolidate all.

The current bridge was built between 1924 and 1928. The originators wanted to respect the dissymmetry of the river. The 3 reinforced concrete arches, covered stone of size, they also are dissymmetrical.

The statue of St Genevière decorates certainly the top of the pylon of 14 m which prolongs an outwater of pier, so that the bridge resists better than its predecessors the whims of the Seine.
