Photographer’s Note
(Uçhisar citadel - another scan from the print of a slide ; taken the same week as this photo with another mood, but same weather conditions... Sun playing with fog : the village being so high, sometimes it is just emerging from a sea of fog).
This "kale" (Turkish), or castle-citadel dominates the whole of Cappadocia : a huge rock in volcanic tuffa carved over the millenia by various occupants to flee invasions and to live in a series of caves connected by tunnels ; now a famous attraction.
... See you in a few weeks !

Hi Catherine;
I know this castle.
Its so splendid place. The light seem excellent for this type of composition and the colours give it a natural atmosphere.
Great fog, great shoot.
Regards.

Bonjour Catherine,
Ca me rappelle bien mes montagnes tout ca, surtout les sorties en hivers par mauvais temps. L eclairage est assez typique de ces instants.
Ca change des photos que tu nous proposes habituellement.
A bientot,
Yves.

Come come :)
Autumn has already arrived with her melancholic beauty, and the charming lady of autumn is welcome.
I've seldom seen Cappadocia under snow or mist, so here is an original share.
Without people? Who cares! :)))
Hugs and bon voyage...

very different sharing from Cappadocia.. we used to see there in colors, not in mist.. and it's great in misty weather too.. and i've just realized you had taken it in 2004.. why did it wait for being uploaded?
Have a nice day Catherine,

Hello Cath
A very different approach to show Cappadocia. The fog adds a lot to the picture here, emphasized in B&W..perhaps one of the best I've seen from this place. Have a good trip...but where to this time?
Best Regards

Fais un bon voyage. Nous on ne bouge pas. On t'attends en comptant les jours...

Bonjours,
belle photo de ces troglotites je crois que c' est le nom qu' on leurs donnent quand ils vivent dans la montagne.
Beau NB avec cette brume ou nuage qui viennent par le bas.
Amitiés Thomas

reminds me of a scene from the lord of the rings, dont know why... spectacular presentation of a geography we have already memorised every corner of it thanks to TE... mysterious and charming... my compliments cath...

He he I know why Korkut recalls Lord of the Rings. It is because this scene was exactly on the movie!! The scene where Frodo and fellowship of Ring move around a very mountains all covered by snow and mist...
I am so used to see summer or spring photos from Cappadocia, this snowy Cappadocia is just like a dream...

Hi Cath!
Outstanding photo, the mist and your choice of b&w have converted this already magic place, into a mystic wonderland! Excellent framing and composition, but this extraordinary atmosphere is what makes the diference! Congratulations!
