Photographer’s Note
This cross in Camiguin island marks what used to be a Catholic cemetery. It was submerged during an eruption of a small volcano in the 19th century. The grave markers can still be seen a few feet below the surface. This was a chance shot when we happened to pass by along the national road. The funny thing was, right nearby, there was a Jeepney parked with the words "SUNKEN SUNSET" emblazoned in large fonts: the title is an adaptation. I took a picture of the jeepney as well :)

Very nice composition with the palm trees in front, and the boat , the DOF could have been longer(the cross seems to be a bit blurred) you could use smaller Aparature to get it. colors are nice and I also like the grey clouds, well done!

Emer, your pic is much better. Actually, your pic inspired me to take a similar photo when i went to Camiguin. I told motorcycle driver prior to touring the island that we have to be at the sunken cemetery by sundown so I can have photo just like yours but unfortunately we weren't able to go back due to minor changes in our itinerary.

This is a good photo - and a great story. If you could have taken a photo of some of the grave markers below the surface - that would be a shot to see!!

Hi Emer!
You're shot of the sunset is just beautiful; right timing, right framing. I didn't have the opportunity to take a similar shot, it was noon when we passed by there. But after seeing your pic, I'm thinking of going back there to have a sunset pic of the cemetery ;-)

Hi Emer, this is a very nice shot! I love the two coconut trees framing the photo, the sun just peeking from behind the cross and of course the silhouettes against the colors of the sunset. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Emer, I am fond of sunsets and this one is pretty exceptional because of the submerged cemetry. I like the way you have captured the setting sun.

i have seen so many Camiguin photos and its cross, this is surely one of the
best. again another must visit retreat. i like the fun you had with the jeep.
did you leave your P5. for the photo of the jeep? i hear its a tradition to leave
your foto fee in the tin can at the jeep. its really a permanent
fixture for days such as this.
okay so i was kidding. your just too funny.
