Photographers Note
Hello Everyone,
Last week we had some very warm, sunny weather. Autumn was imitating summer! I went for a walk with a group of friends and couldn't resist capturing the lovely greens, and long shadows.
On many shots on this site, especially those from Canada, the signs of autumn are well advanced but, as you can see, there is little sign of autumn here!
The grass around the field gates is still long and green and the trees have a summerlike freshness. I'm sure that it will all change in another week!
The dry stone walls you can see are the typical field boundaries for this part of Lancashire. In the distance is Blacko Tower which looks very interesting but was, in fact, a folly built in the last century.
Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hi Bev,
Seems like we've posted nearly book end quintessential English scenes today. This one is great. The light leads the eye nicely to the gate and back up to the tower. They say that autumn arrives now about 2-3 weeks later here in the UK than it did 100 years ago.
Cheers!

Hello Beverley ,
A lovely sunny composition of your beautiful countryside . I can see that autumn is not yet there in Britain ( as in Brittany ) . And may be ther is not the same beautiful colors than in others countries ( Canada , Central Europa ... )
Best regards

Hello Beverley
A beautifully put together photo - the green undulating fields of England, a folly tower and the interesting foreground with the wall and gate. Could be a postcard. TFS, Marlene

Hi Beverley,
wonderful capture of the British countryside with beautiful light and a nice title! It is really astonishing that autumn arrives that late in UK, maple trees in Schleswig-Holstein start loosing leaves now. Hopefully you will enjoy more lovely days like this and share with us your impressions!
Warm regards

Hello Beverley,
A fine composition of this very English landscape. The diagonal placing of gate and drystone wall makes the perfect frame for the lush green landscape beyond. Light and colours are very good as is the clarity. Very pleasing to contemplate.

Hi Bev.
It's almost a pleasant change to see an autumn shot without heaps of saturated autumn reds. Here, the European trees are budding and some well into leaf as Spring takes hold. The point of view here is marvellous - how well you framed the composition, creating a nice angle for the fence and gate, and another one leading from the gatepost to the tower on the hill. Lovely light in this sharp picture, and plenty of detail in the sky. Very nice indeed!
Regards,
Andrew
BTW, there are many of these drystone walls in the Port Fairy region of Victoria, down near the state's south-west coast. Lots of Irish immigrants in the 19th century!

Hello Bev,
A fresh and inspiring composition of rural life.
The gate cleverly leads one into the scene and beyond to the tower.
Lovely colours and details.
Well done!

Hi Bev,
Beautiful capture of the English countryside with the old stone fence making the perfect lead in to the wonderful varying shades of green that sits against the silver blue sky.
Warm light, fine depth and sharpness to this lovely countryside image.

Hi Bev,
this is how i imagine the countryside of England look like. Grat POV and composition. I like old stone walls very much, and this one looks great in combination with open fields. Thanks for taking me to England.
Kind regards

Hi Bev, this is a good view of the rural English countryside. The gate, stone wall and rolling hills all add interesting detail to the photo. One can almost sense a hint of summer heat in the light here. A very pleasing image, well done.

Hello Beverley,
looks like summer really is still there!
Interesting composition: many things in one shot:) Nice deep shadows as contrast to the brightly sunlit fields and hill! The sky looks very cloudy... but still there is some sushine, which is very good.
best regards,
Elena

Bev, this is a great shot but a bit light I think. Maybe it is overexposed but I am not sure because there is blue in the light sky. Maybe the saturation levels need to be bumped up a bit. Anyway overall very nicely seen.
