Autumn Meets Winter II Photo

Photographer’s Note

The light was low this day, as it often is on cloudy autumn days with snow in the air.

This image is taken not far from the church in AMW I and a few minutes later, but at another angle on incoming light. Of course the angle alone does not count for the difference in brightness and contrast, as I twisted levels a bit here to make an improvement. Not so much though, since the colours of autumn are outstanding this year…

Probably there will be no dispute that this image looks better than the other one, but the first is probably more true to reality under the given light conditions! (88/257/1)

It is a beautiful photo. The mix of winter and autumn colours is extraordinary and it is a pity it will not last longer. Is the snow to come down to the house? If so, it will be all white soon. The other thing very nice is to see the strong colours used to paint the houses. We are not used to it, here in Australia. Well done.

The colours seem to get more deeper as the days pass by gathering from the shots you take. Off course the Autumn colours are splendid here but I like the red church wedged into between these trees. The exposure in the snow are so much better than your previous post, the detail is outstanding in the whites. Pin sharpness, beautiful colours and scene, I wish to be in Norway to see for myself.

Mountainous regions give a good chance for showing bright autumn colours and snow on the same picture. Good framing. Red buildings add even more colourfulness. Blue sky would be even better, but I guess that snow melt away before sun appeared.

The trees in the foreground with the fall colors lead our eyes toward the nountain covered with snow. The point of view from bottom to top is an asset to the composition. The low light is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

snow already?? Those colors are brilliant. I love all the contrasts in colors and the snowy hill stands out wonderfully from that gray sky. I like this photo a lot, especially the contrast between the cool tone of the sky and fiery golden colours of the trees. the snow is essential to emphasise this contrast, and for some reason I thing the overcast sky you have here is exactly right to convey the feeling of cold day, the blue sky would be too cheerful for that. very nice work, my compliments.

Despite the subject (church) in the other one being more attractive and originalThe theme in this one the contrast between the colorful trees and the white mountains seems to be more evident. Hi Pablo,

Well, this is a scene I never see in California!

The contrasting colors are quite pleasing and have an unusual feel to them -- I'm not sure how much of this is in the camera and post processing and how much is in nature.

I like the palette: dark green, bright green, rich orange, deep red, earthy brown and fresh white.

The composition is pleasing, too, with the trees in the foreground scattered about the lower half of the frame. The red house with it's white trim balances nicely along the diagonal with the peak of the mountain and its white snow.
