Photographer’s Note
I photographed this magnificent building in 2004 while I was visiting my brother in Vryheid. With my poor camera equipment I was unable to go any nearer to the church for a better photo but I promise you I will go back and do a proper job.
The Dutch Reformed Moederkerk in the center of Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal was completed in 1894. It is one of thirty churches in Vryheid.
The laying of the foundation stone was done on the 25th of September 1891 by Mr. L.J. Meyer and the first minister of this church was A.J. Louw.
The architect of the church was Wilson and Earl and D. Nicolson was the contractor.

Hello, Tillie,
this is actually a really good photo. The light and contrast is excellent, the colors are lovely and natural, nice details, well composed. The only thing I found distracting (and it's just a pet peeve of mine) is the vertical perspective. I have done a workshop to straighten it and sharpened it just a bit. I hope you don't mind. Very nice shot and many thanks,
Shelly
