abstract shapes of St.NIkola Photo

Photographer’s Note

Taken on one saturday when my companion took me on adventurist exploration of renaissance fortification St.Nikola situated on the sea just across city of Sibenik. I say adventurist because unless you have a boat you need to know "secret" paths where sea level is low and you need to fight with edgy stones and hurt your feet if you are silly enough like me to walk this path barefooted. but effort is more than worthy. the fortification is magnificent and stories that I heard about it on my way there woke up all spirits that used to live there. Unfortunately one of rare examples of such fortification, of such measures (It is the one of three such examples on the Mediterranean and the only one that still has it's original design) is dying in front of our eyes, left there almost forgotten. It was build in XVI. century by Venetians as defense from the Turks...
From me unfortunately you will only get details taken on the top level. this is first one...

p.s. new computer, still don't have photoshop so there are some spots that needs to be cleaned. sorry for that.

Hello Ana, thats an intersting composition with an eclectic mix of textures, elements and indeed a human form as well. I like the unpreductability of this composition and the surprise it creates

It looks as though you've been away from TE a very long time...welcome back!

You have a unique kind of attitude expressed in your photos, almost a bit surreal. Here you have a very playful and innocent, even slightly goofy, boy, set against (and dominated by) the very permanent and austere walls of the fortification. It makes for a very interesting contrast, and makes me think how the boy will one day give up some of his spontaneity and become more like the wall.

I think this might be even more effective in B/W, emphasizing the imposing form of the wall.

Also it appears you have some worms living in your lens...

Ana, I love this bravely structured photo, the contrast of abstract geometric shapes vivid clear colors and the nice face of this little boy.
