in the deep fog - III Photo

Photographer’s Note

In the hills about 40 km from Araku valley, I spent a wonderful day in a deep, dense fog... It was raining the whole afternoon ; great opportunities to take photos, though, even then...

Specially early in the morning, all the persons met in this small village (Dhumku, where I rented a hut for 2 days) were like surprising, surreal apparitions, suddleny there and quickly disappearing in the fog : absolutely enchanting, even if uncomfortable !

I tried too many versions of this one, still not satisfied but there it is.

Bonjour Catherine,

Superbe cette ambiance qui est bien montrée par le cadrage et surtout les 3 personnes en premier plan qui habillent et habitent cette scene.
Bon, effectivement il y a du bruit, et ca limitera l emploi de cette photo a des petits formats, mais ca ne m empeche pas de bien aimé.

Hey Cath,

I think this is a wonderful picture with a lot of potential. I'm saying potential because I think you didn't go to your limits with post production here. It looks very nice in colour yet you forgot about reducing the colour grain just a bit. In my opinion it would help a lot and give the picture much more softer look.

I'm mostly a B&W person that's why I've tried to do a workshop of this picture in a B&W manner. I hope you like it.

Fantastic fog photo. The imagary of the 3 people walking away into it is just perfect - it's very India and captures the essence of this region. A beauty slice of life!

hello catherine
beautiful morning mood here... i like that gracious mother's figure folloewed by her son. the tree silhouette lies very comfortably in your composition too. as to the workshop: i tend to disagree... enhancing contrasts (that's what curves adjustment seems to have done) on a foggy/misty shot loses the essence of displaying FOG... also, i like that slight reminder of blue (goes well with the misty morning mood) in her sari but i agree, the hint of the road color in the right corner could be lost. otherwise, the WS seems just plain harsher to me: and I do not see why that harshness would be needed in this scene.

I may say - the same story applies to this cutie...
There are so many of them from India, it's only natural to slightly shrug your shoulders...

being there as a great observer and using this

Hey nice pic! the mother, kids pair being enhanced and the soft quality of the backgournd gives it a very pleasant feel... i can actually experience the cold,foggy morning... :) nice effect on the whole.
