Stranded in Toroni Photo

Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken in Toroni on one of my many road trips around the Sithonia peninsula. It was a cloudy day ... the perfect weather to explore the wonderful region of Halkidiki.

Toroni (Τορώνη) is a small seaside village in Halkidiki. It is located about 20 km south of Neos Marmaras at a 130 km distance from Thessaloniki. Toroni's beach is one of the most beautiful places in Halkidiki. The village was named after the wife of Proteus, the son of Poseidon. The rich history of the area can still be seen today as the remains of several ancient temples and castles can be visited (parts of the ruins can be seen in the background of the photo).

I used the HDR technique for this shot. I used a RAW file to create five JPEG files with different exposures (-2.00 EV to +2.00 EV) and then merged them with Photomatix. Colors and levels were adjusted with Photoshop.

Hallo Natasha,

sehr schöne Aufnahme mit tollen Farben und ausgezeichneter Schärfe und Tiefe; bin von der HDR-Technik noch nicht restlos überzeugt, da meines Erachtens bei diesen Bildern einstweilen zu tief in Farbkiste gegriffen wird, aber deine Komposition unterscheidet sich davon ganz ausgezeichnet..

Simple shot, but very well done! The colour and clarity is very good, allowing us to see everything so clearly that it's almost like being there. The boat in particular adds so much to this scene, as it provides a nice contrast with the sea and sky. Well done!
