Photographer’s Note
The beautifl Kirkstone Pass is both bleak and stunning. It is the highest road in the Lake Disrict at 454 metres. It's name comes from a nearby boulder shaped like a church (kirk). The inn in the shot is from the 17th Century, derelict for a while and restored in the 1870's. Kirkstone Pass has a place in history, being written about by Celia Fiennes 17th century travel writer, poetry by Wordsworth and mentioned by Thomas De Quincy. The road is part of the A592 between Ullswater & Windermere/Ambleside.

Hi Jean,
I really like the play of colours and shadows in this image. It is very effective.

Hi Jean !
It is very unusual road for England. On horizon clouds or mist is touching slope of hill like it happens in mountainous countries. You captured it with big skill. Thanks to your shot I opened for myself this poetic Lake District.
Best regards.

Hi Jean, A typical example of the weather in this area, the height brings in the cloud & you have captured it brilliantly, nicely composed with the pass winding its way through the shot, very good colours & well managed light, I have only been to the inn once but it was during the summer months, & I don't fancy going there in the winter, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Hello Jean.
A very moody landscape picture. I like the way you have shown the windy road zigzagging across the photo. The white inn stands out beautifully against the dark slopes behind, and of course the cloud rolling in just looks fantastic when contrasted with the patch of apparently sunlit field on the left. A really good landscape shot and good note. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew
