Photographer’s Note

Last Sunday, with the good company of Tolga, Ricardo, and Aires, we went around Alfama and Sao Jorge castle.
The weather whish was dull in the morning became splendid with great clouds and it was a pleasure to walk around these great places. This is graphic shot taken from the castle.

Hi Mr Izzet, a splendid shot with a highest graphical effect from the top of Lisbon, towards Baixa, which I consider as the heart of city. The gradual loss of focus among the four layers and your positioning of those blue and claret-red façades between them is something very amazing. Best regards, Tolga

I know exactly this POV because I have a very similar shot. The view from the castle is wonderful and we can spend all day taking different views over the city. And when we walk down the street into Alfama, then the ecstasy reaches its climax. This is what I feel every time I am in Lisbon. I am never tired of that beautiful city. Here the colours play importance and that diagonal is superb. It is a picture taken by authentic artistic eye. Congratulations.

Sizin gözünüzle Lisbon'u görmek de ne bÿük bir sans. Ellerinize saglik. Or in English, this simple image shows the master at work: you offer lessons in color and texture, geometry and architecture. Warm regards, Izzet. I am glad you got to see Tolga, Ricado and Aires. I am certain José Pires (stego) would have liked to see you as well. But then my short visit to Istanbul allowed me to see some friends, but miss many more.

Very well observed and captured! The tiled roofs and those colourful walls with windows make a great graphic arrangement, simple, yet very rich in lines, shapes, patterns and colours.
The perfect cropping and "straight" perspective is very important here; I guess that the long focal gave a useful aid.
I wonder if the slight blur on the FG is intentional. I can't decide if it is a minor flaw or one of the good/wise things on the image. I think it enhances the importance of the pattern of the FG, but I am not sure such is enough to justify harming the clarity of more than half of the image.

Very graphic indeed! I like how the perspective is so flat that the different parts look like overlapping sheets of different patterns and colors.

a very graphical image. Something very typical for your work. You have a special eye for scenes like this. The alternation of textures and colors are superb, although I wish you would have choosen a less flat DOF to provide better sharpness in the background.

Love it Izzet. If I had to pick just one from this day, I would choose this one. Splendid geometric composition with a good combination of colors. Only experient eyes can find such beautiful images.
