Photographer’s Note

World War 1 had a total loss of life in the order of 20 million people. Tyn Cott is the largest Commonwealth cemetry in the world. 11956 graves of soldiers from many lands and faiths are here together with the names of 34,957 missing carved on the walls.

Hi Colin, the wars in Europe have costed the life of so many young men. I have not seen this cemetery, but I have been in Verdun and surroundings a couple of times, also places for battles in WW1. And lots of cemeteries there too. Tfs, a beautiful photo with a very tragic event behind.
