Photographer’s Note
To prevent erosion to the low coastline here, these defences have been built over a long distance. Sand is also sucked up by ships from a distance out to sea and pumped back at the sea's edge to replenish the sand which is constantly being washed away by the tides. As the defences are quite wide, they also provide recreation in the form of walking and cycling.
