Photographer’s Note
Hundreds of houses from the late 19th century and early 20th century stand in downtown residential blocks of Galveston, where they have withstood many storms. Most of downtown Galveston escaped the storm surge of Hurricane Ike, but winds and flooding still have caused heavy damage to this unique city.
