Photographer’s Note
Shiva Devale No 2, a Hindu temple built entirely of stone lies past the north gate of the citadel of Polonnaruwa. The building dates to the 10th Century AD, and is the oldest identifiable building in Polonnaruwa. The building is in an early and perfectly simple Choler style, and is one of the masterpieces of Indian art to be found at Polonnaruwa.
