Photographer’s Note
Today, we finally get to look at the exterior of this ancient church, we’re looking at the north wall, the oldest part of the church can be seen here, dating back to the Saxons when the village was known as Wareburghtune.
It’s said that during the Hundred Years’ war, Edward the Black Prince – Prince of Wales, cut branches from the tree I’m stood underneath to fashion bows and arrows.

Very atmospheric shot of the old church Mike...The composition is nice and the metering correct even ynder difficult light conditions...Very well done..

Indeed a rather difficult job to get the correct exposure here. A nice frame with darker areas in the top and in the bottom. My only suggestion would be to take an angle in which the tomb-stone does not overlap the white door... Other then that, a very nice shot Mike!

Somewhere there still exists an old Saxon church where the body of the last king of East Anglia was brought after a battle against the Vikings (he lost). According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle it's a wooden church - I thought for a moment this might be it, but it's not in Chechire (not surprisingly, for a king of East Anglia). Still, it has the Hudred Years War.
The lighting is not the best - the grass is what's well lit, when it should be the wall of the church. But if it's the north wall, then I guess the sun never ever shines on it, so what to do? Go for black and white - it will even solve the problem of the unblue sky. But even then, try to get lighting conditions when there's less of a range between the brightest and darkest parts of the scene (bright overcast conditions would be good).

Nice picture, Mike. I like the inclusion of little sun rays at the top left. Unfortunately the light is not right for the image. Maybe B&W would help, that's what I have learn on T.E. :)
