Sweet Grandma Photo

Photographer’s Note

She is actually a great-grandmother and her grandson next to her is already an uncle... I met them last year in Gülheyran village near Kars (border with Armenia), where everyone is part of the same extended family...

A sweet lady and very popular, she had a good sense of humour and sometimes I was wondering if she understood her jokes but she was smiling so sweetly when we were laughing.

Her clothes are typical for Kurdish ladies of that age and I find her particularly elegant !
It's not that I'm trying to do an apology of the headscarves here (rather a collection of photos of people whom I met) but if I had to wear one for some reason, never mind the current fashion : I would go for this style, my prefered one !

A sweet double portrait with just a glimpse of the environment in which these people live.

J'adore les portraits, et celui ci me plait. Je sens une grande complicité entre les deux sujets. Nous voyons également bien les traits du visages et des mains de la grand-mére grace à une bonne netteté de la photo.Bon cadrage et bonne composition, bravo.

A la limite, je regrette presque la présence du kid, car la vieille femme est si belle, si douce, comme tu le dis, et lui n'est pas dans cet esprit.
Mais bon, sinon, le discret sourire est charmant, les mains sont belles... Elle est tout simplement belle.

A superb dual portrait, with good sharpness, colour & lighting. Good graphism & contrast. The boy looks like he is squinting into the sun a bit. Excellent skin textures, and a marvellous blue sky. Tfs! Amities!

Beautiful double portrait. They have so much in common. Look at both of their wrinkles on their nose, between their eyes.
Your compo has so much details, for example, her hands from the close up can be another frame.

Bonsoir chere Catherine,

encore un portait qui va de paire avec le precedent et qui me plait par son sujet. Mon dileme quand je realise les portraits est toujours present: avec le soleil ou dans l'ombre. Apres tout je mets mes heros dans l'ombre et je compte sur mon appareil. Pour comprendre mieux mon argument, regrade le garcon qui combat contre le soleil dans les yeux. Pourtant, ma theorie qu'il n'y a pas de photo sans soleil n'est pas justifiee tout le temps. Bonne continuation de nous presenter les gens gentils de la province turqe. Merci bien, amicalement a toi

j'aime beaucoup le visage et surtout les mains de cette personne qui dénotent une vie dure, une vie de travail au grand air, avec le petit fils a ses cotés , on rentre plus dans le portrait de famille.

she's indeed sweet!
