Photographer’s Note
Following on from my last posting: I could hear a distant freight train somewhere to the west of Banff, and, hoping it was headed my way, I endured the freezing temperatures for what seemed like an eternity (actually, around 20 minutes!) to capture this CPR loco against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.

Hi Jeff,
The train is a fantastic addition to an already brilliant shot.
Certainly well worth the wait.
Stunning image.

Hi Jeff:
Much, much better. Now rather than having a fairly large empty snow-covered space, you've got a fantastic point of interest in this shot. You were lucky it only took 20 minutes! ;)

Ahhhhh now THIS one I REALLY like!
Superb shot Jeff, the train really makes this shot in comparison to your last. The composition is excellent, tonal levels superb, sharpness is perfect- all around a great shot.
20 minutes wait- if it had been me taking the shot, I would have had to wait 2hrs (just my type of luck- haha).
All the best!

Hello Jeff,
Good pov to include a passing train, nice to see soft sunlight shining and create shading every where, very natural all the land cover with pure white snow, I like the pine clumps too, distinct image, well done.

Hi Jeff,
I can imagine you can hear a train coming quite far on a silent winter day. Beautiful weather, great mountain background. And those big diesels are always impressive. But I think you were a bit early with your shutter.

Can't get much better than this photograph. It's really superb and looks as if it belongs in a Christmas card catalog. Really well worth the wait in the freezing cold! Very nicely done.

Hi Jeff,
This image is sharp. I like the angle you managed to capture the train along the Rockies. The red locomotive create also good contrast against the mostly white and green environment of this area. Nice image but was it really that cold?

Olá Jeff!
But it was worth the time you spent waiting for the train to pass your way... Great composition and the light on the snow is so beautiful.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing,
Ana
