Photographer’s Note
Most people are aware of the huge amount of construction taking place throughout Dubai, with barely a kilometre of land unaffected by the massive development happening.
It is often said that Dubai is one massive construction site, with only pockets of land portraying beauty....man-made yes, but still very appealing. If you choose your location carefully, get there at the right time, and crop out certain unsightly objects, you can still capture something quite attractive. In this case I got to my location just after sun rise, and managed to capture these perfectly still reflections in one of the man-made lakes in Jumairah Islands residential development, partly seen at the right side of the image...including a bit of greenery. The tall buildings in the background are part of the Marina development seen in some of my previous postings.
I increased the contrast slightly and did some additional cropping.

Hello Grant,
Photos that feature water reflections
and beautiful architecture are my favorites… and
this one features just that!
Interesting note, I recently heard the new
term “Manhattanization of Dubai”
Here in S. Florida, we are hearing
about Miami’s Manhattanization also.
However, the construction boom here in the U.S. has really
slowed down in the last two years. Do you think that
this construction boom is going to burst anytime soon in UAE?

Hello Grant,
What a nice cityscape! I was watching a program on the building speed yesterday and it is truly amazing!
You get the strange feel that the compo is slightly tilted to the left. But it isn't when you look at the verticals of the sky scrapers. Guess it has to do with the curve of the coastline.
Nice composition!

Hi Grant!
Fantastic photo, excellent composition and framing, amazing reflections! The only "problem" that I see, is the slightly "tilted" horizon, but that's something you can easily fix in photoshop! Congratulations!
