Photographer’s Note

The photo shows Lake Bled island "Blejski Otok", Slovenia's only natural island and one of the most beautiful places of Europe. With 99 stairs leading to the top of the island, St Mary’s Church, Wishing bell it is one of the most romantic places to get married. Transport to and from the island is provided by pletnas. (Pletna is the slovenian name of this small boat.)

The lake is 2120 m long, from 180 - 500 m wide and the deepest point would come to 30 meters. To walk around it is approximately 7 km. The lake is tectonic in origin, but was created 14000 years ago by a glacier that slid from the Alps into the valley. On the way it created this beautiful lake. There is 19 different species of fish in this lake, making it attractive for fisherman. You will find that swimming as well as rowing is possible almost everywhere. Over the winter the lake freezes and one can go on skates to the island.

This is a fantastic composition! The lily pads and flowers in the foreground are great and add nice interest. The eye is led across the lake to the church. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The vertical format is perfect for this shot providing for excellent depth.

Hi, Denis. The water lily is a an excellent foreground, sharp and with lovely colours. The depth in the picture is very good and the church in the background stands out well against the forest and the sky. It looks as if the spire tilts slitghtly to the right.

Great composition Denis. I would love to see that tower really vertical, but that's just a detail. The rest is perfect. A landscape not usual at all. Like it a lot!
