City pond Photo | TrekEarth

Photographer’s Note

Where is the city? Just a couple of hundred meters on the left, outside the photo are flat houses belonging to the residential area of Kauklahti, one of the growing districts in Espoo city. This pond (name Palolampi) has always been one of my favourites at that area as well as the forest starting from this pond. The forest with its rocks and swamps is at least partially threatened by the new town plans.

In WS is another view to the pond, taken from the rock shown on the left.

In the map view left hand you can see my point of view, the pond and the forest.

This is a feature of Finland to have nature so close to city cores, very nice pond allowing a superb reflection.

Wow, what a tranquil moment in this awesome place! I have never seen such still water surface. I can't believe it is in a city. I wish we had cities like this over here.

A fine island of nature, in the see of flats, factories. A nice place to rest after the hard week. It's harm that sb want to fill it up.

Hei Lasse,
Very Finnish landscape with forest and water. Reflections are perfect and the rocky water edge is well placed on the left. Spring leaves still have richer green tones than later in the summer.

Hi Lasse ,
A very nice reflection . The trees , the blue sky , and the white clouds make a perfect composition . And to complete it , the bank in the bottom , and little leaves in the top .
The light is well captured , too .

Amazing to think that this wonderful green space is in a city. The pond is so still the reflections are perfect mirror images of the reality. As a lover of reflections I definitely prefer this to the WS, but it is nice to be able to see another view of the place.

What a nice reflection! I like the way the sky becomes darker in the water. The leaves on the shot's top are a good frame.

I visited Finland 25 years ago and when I think to my travel, i remenber always this landscape: a lake with many trees around it.

Beautiful reflection of the sky on the water, its saturation of blue is perfect. Green of the trees is rendered by spring fresh green color. Very Suomen landscape.

Nice and clear reflection of the sky. You are right, when you arrive in to Helsinki airport, first thing you see when you leave the airport direction to the city, is a great landscape of trees and lakes... so Espoo can´t be other way.

Another one of your best I hadn't seen!
The usual fine scenery plus a wonderful reflection. Bright light, fine natural colours, good sharpness and contrast. And last but not least: your usual masterful composition skill.
