Photographer’s Note
Catinaccio or Rosengarten in German is stunningly beautiful mountain chain in Dolomites, rising above Val di Fassa. The base for ascent is either Ciampedie upper cablecar station or Gardeccia hut. Then it's 45 mins to Vajolet and Preuss huts, almost incredibly situated on top of a big rock. Gartl hut beside a small lake at 2621 mts is another hour hike up a secured but not difficult path. The last 15 mins to the Santner Pass at 2734 mts is a pure enjoy and small hut at the top of the pass is the end of the path for normal hikers.
The three Vajolet spires are named after the first succesfull ascents, namely Winkler, Stabeler and Delgado, the other three by geographic position Nord, Principale and Est.
