The contrast enhances the dramatic effect in this image. Otherworldly, a dangereous expedition.

Hi Eriks,
A powerful and slightly threatening image, I particularly like the lighting and texture of the surface of the ice. The viewpoint from below gives the impression of being swallowed up by an enormous mouth. Makes me think of "Journey to the centre of the earth", quite appropriate for Iceland I suppose.
Just a small point: looks to me like you've done quite a lot of sharpening on this, which works very well to bring out the texture of the ice but IMO is a bit too much for the human figures and the sky. Perhaps you could have selectively sharpened the foreground?
