Photographer’s Note

Getreidegasse (also known as Grain Lane) is a busy shopping street in the Old Town section of Salzburg. The house at no. 9 Getreidegasse is where the famed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and lived until he was 17.

Die Getreidegasse war bereits zur Römerzeit Teil eines bedeutenden Verkehrsweges, sie bildete die Hauptverkehrsader durch die Stadt in Richtung des heutigen Bayern. Die Straße wurde 1150 erstmals als Trabgasse und Traugasse erwähnt. Der Name leitet sich nicht vom Getreide ab, sondern ist mit dem Mundartbegriff trabig (= schnell, rührig; vgl. das Traben der Pferde) verwandt.

A superb streetscape, with wonderful fg colour of the passing crowd, & with excellent sharpness. The sides of the street add superb linear perspective. Tfs!

Hallo Georg,
man kommt gewaltig ins Grübeln, wenn man sich mit dieser auf den ersten Blick so farbenfrohen Komposition beschäftigt. Die Leute wirken alle gehetzt und haben merkwürdige Ausdrücke im Gesicht. Es geht etwas sehr Unangenehmes von ihnen aus. Schaut man an den wunderschönen Fassaden entlang, blickt man auf die Schilder der bekannten großen Ketten. Eine für mich verstörende dennoch großartige Arbeit!

Dobrze podkrêcone kolory. Uzyska³e¶ efekt jakby to zdjecie by³o akwarelow± ilustracj± do ksia¿ki o Salcburgu. Bardzo du¿o ciekawego ¶wiat³a pomiêdzy ¶cianami domów bardzo dobrze wp³ywa na odbiór tej pracy.

A very fine shot of this famous street. The lighting and colors are great bringing out nice details and textures. The people add a good sense of life to the shot. This brings back nice memories of my July trip to Salzburg where we found this street to always be crowded.

Georg, what ever you have done in post makes this look sureal. The colors are watercolor like and the action is more frozen than stopped. Very interesting and nice effect.

Jakie t³umy , ale widaæ ¿e zaraz bêdzie burza. Niesamowite mimo to kolory, uliczka ¶liczna , w tle na górze widaæ chyba salzburski zamek.
