Photographer’s Note
The Temple of Debod is an ancient Egyptian temple which has been rebuilt in Madrid, Spain.
The temple was built in southern Egypt very close to the first cataract of the Nile and to the great religious center dedicated to the goddess Isis, in Philae. In the early 2nd century BC, Adikhalamani (Tabriqo), king of the country of Meroë, started its construction by building a small chapel dedicated to the gods Amon and Isis. Afterwards, different kings of the Ptolemaic dynasty added new chambers around the original nucleus. The Roman emperors Augustus, Tiberius, and perhaps Hadrian, completed its construction.
In 1960, due to the construction of the Great Dam of Aswan and the consequent threat posed to several monuments and archeological sites, UNESCO made an international call to save this rich historical patrimony. As a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the temples of Abu Simbel, the Egyptian state donated the temple to Spain in 1968.
The temple was rebuilt in one of the most beautiful parks in Madrid, the site of a former army barracks near Madrid's Campo del Moro and Parque del Oeste, and opened to the public in 1972. It constitutes one of the few works of ancient Egyptian architecture which can be seen outside Egypt and the only one of its kind in Spain.

Hello Manuel,
I like the use of sepia colourations as it gives an age old look to this temple. The converging lines of stonework in the mid area of the image seem to work well with the rectangular buildings. Well seen and well captured.
Cheers Grant

Hello Manuel! Thanks for sharing this photo and very interesting note. I knew that Egyptian temples have been moved from their original positions, but to totally different country - that was new to me. Very nice photo too, did you use some kind of gradual filter or how is the sky looking like that?
Have a nice day,
jarkko

Hello Manuel,
Very nice association of two great places. The specific colouring superbly joins this association. Simple picture, excellent composition, very well put-upon light.

Hello Manuel,
Bien vu !

Hello, Manuel
Since you are in Madrid, I opened your gallery from that city, kniwn to me only by books, moveis and photos. I would like to visit it. Especially with such kind of sights, unusual for Europe.
The photo is very evocative, the gradient sky contributes to the atmoshere, and the sharp reflections give some sort of life in the composition.
Regards,
Asparuh
