Photographer’s Note
The Grampians were formed about 50m years ago when molten lava was forced up against much older sedimentary rock, forming granite as it cooled. This has been eroded, forming rugged and interesting landscapes. An example of this is the Wonderland range, close to Halls Gap. This image shows part of the "grand canyon" walk. which runs up a steep gulley between towering granite walls.

Stephen: of course, it's a winner - even at f/25 the background is a little soft - but otherwise, superb, c

Stephen, it is amazing the number of people who never bother to look into a pool of water to look for reflections. I'm thinking about a trip to the Grampiams and if this is what I can see, I'm on my way.
Your have framed this picture perfectly and the exposure is 100%.
How do I find this location ??
Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful POV with the reflection in the little pond, with just a ray of sun on the rock that creates a fantastic mood. Graphically, I find interesting the upside-down triangle of the rock on which there is the water, and of the puddle itself.

Hello Steve, Great shot, I like the exposure, colour & detail especially in the reflection, I have spent quite a while looking at this because it is a nice relaxing getting away from it type of scene but I have also been looking for a bird I know there must be one somewhere, yes?.
Just joking. Beautiful capture.
Take care

Hello Steve,
Did you use the GND? it seems like it. The exposure is almost perfect, the sky is captured nicely in the reflection and the big rock and the puddle in your foreground is superb.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Steve,
It must have been a pleasant trip for you to spend a few days at the Grampians. I guess you would have sat at this spot to absorb the natural scenery and the fresh air.
The composition is exceptionally good with the FG pool and its reflection which picked up what we can't see at the top of the frame. The exposure is extremely good with excellent clarity in details. I wonder GND was used for this shot?

Stephen,
This shot really makes fantastic use of very little - a puddle in a rock - to bring the undoubted wonder of this environment to life.
Many environment are indeed wonderful to experience, but it's not always easy to convey that in a photograph. A great success.
