The architect of the roof is Otto Frei.
Building of the stadium started in 1969. Opening was in may 1972, three months ahead of the Olympics.

An interesting piece of architecture. I was thinking it could use a little less exposure on the sky. I think there is a filter in Picasa that allows you to darken an image a bit. Anyway I digress. This is nicely composed with three posts included.
