Photographer’s Note
The Vršič pass winds up from Kranjska Gora to about 1600 meters above sea level, before it winds down again into the wonderful Soča valley. The scenic road offers many places to rest and enjoy spectacular views on surrounding mountains and the great nature. One stop you should not miss is in curve #49, where you can climb up to the spring of the Soča river. Another nice stop is curve #48, where you can visit a nice resting place and meet the mountaineer and writer Julius Kugy (see photo), who explored many parts of the Julian Alps.
