The Valley of My Childhood [14]

I was thirteen when I left Gauldalen behind, after living there since I was born… In this series it is my aim to show the diversity and daily life in this area, during all seasons of the year.

Here we are on the roof of Central Norway, and the place we see is as close as we get to the beginning of Gauldalen!

The source of the river Gaula is not a well-defined lake, but the beginning is a very small stream merging with many others and thus put on size and growing to a river eventually. The place here is near Glåmos and located close to the area where Gaula starts as a tiny little stream…

Maybe worth mentioning that this is the place where the first who was elected Secretary General of the United Nations Mr Trygve Lie had his summer residence, located near where his close friend and well-known author Johan Falkberget had his home.

From here the valley runs west for about 80 km before it takes on a Northern direction for the last stage to the Trondheimsfjord.

Gauldalen is the main valley in the central part of Norway, located in the county of Sør-Trøndelag.

The latitude for area is around 64, which is the same as in the middle of Alaska. However, the climate is better than Alaska thanks to an ocean current bringing warm water and more pleasant temperatures across the Atlantic from the Caribbean.

The diagonal line of the road is an asset to the composition. The tree are framing the road well. The cloud structure or design has a good effect on the scenery. The picture is clear and sharp. The colors are enhanced by the quality of the light. Have a nice day.

Although it's such a beautiful site, what most attract me in this image is the sky. I'm amazed by the textures and shapes of the clouds. I'm sure that part enhances the composition. Very fine job!

The light is great and gave fantastic color tones to the scene in which the road is creating a nice perspective along the trees. Including a bit of the wooden house was a good idea which shows the traditional style of this area. The cloudy sky is amazing!

I love the curves and lines here and it is a really fine composition. However, lighting condition were obviously a bit difficult. I would have liked to see something colourful. Perhaps you shot have painted the house to the right in red before you took this photo he, he! TFS and have a nice Sunday evening!

A good pov using the road as a lead-in but, I must say, it is the sky and clouds that really grab the attention.
Until I started photography, I can't say that I took much notice of the sky. Now, it's a source of delight and inspiration!

You might have grown up in beautiful surroundings, as far as I can see.
The pictures delivers that feeling of looking back on a place of living very well. It's a strange feeling - to me at least - to get back to places, where you have grown up and spend some of you childhood days.

Olá Pablo, I've heard that Europe is warmer than America because of Africa, but I don't know if that's valid for a Northern country like Norway. Anyway, here you have another fantastic cloudy sky contributing much for the beauty of this view. The road makes a splendid diagonal and the dashed line gives a nice touch of yellow. Also nice to see the traditional wooden facade at right.

That looks very isolated despite the houses,and there seems to be almost no traffic - at least I cannot see any car or what so ever. What makes this shot tick are the cloud formations, very dramatic - well framed and executed with vibrant color hues.
