Photographer’s Note
I guess sometimes you don't need to venture to far away from home to get a nice photo. This is actually some shale bings - basically, the dumping area for large quantities of mined stone, that was used to extract oil from. It's not too far away from where i lived at the time and I came down one night in 1989 with my brand new Eos 650 camera to try and get a shot of it. It was august and the sun was low in the sky, causing the long shadows, I used a polarizer and a 28mm lens. I hand held it too.

Hi Bruce,
You should be very proud of this shot, it's simply wonderful.
All of the elements come together perfectly, especially that late golden light, and the threatening clouds.
Excellent image.
