Photographer’s Note
This is a view of Piz Buin (3.312m), the highest mountain of the Austrian federal state Vorarlberg - in the background of my photo. It's situated in the Silvretta-massif and here it's surpassed in the altitude only by Piz Linard (3.410 m, in the Swiss canton Grisons) and by Fluchthorn (3399 m at the Swiss/Tyrolean border). Piz Buin is a Rhaeto-Romanic word and means ox-head. This language still today is spoken in the eastern part of Switzerland and in some valleys of northern Italy
Right of the "Großer (big) Piz Buin" (3312 m) you can see "Kleiner (small) Piz Buin" (3255 m). From the gap between these two peaks there is a zigzag walk to the top with one 20 m (65 ft) steep step to surmount before reaching the relatively flat summit space, which has an old wooden cross on the very top. The border between Switzerland and Austria crosses the summit from East to West.
Right hand you can see Schattenspitze (3.202 m). The valley leading to the glaciers is "Ochsental". In the night before I took this photo there were severe thunderstorms which left fresh snow on the two Buins.
In 1974 I stood on top of Piz Buin - an unforgettable day. My username here on TE always again reminds me of this adventure ;-)
I positioned the marker in the map view left hand on top of Big Piz Buin.
In the workshop you can see Piz Buin from another angle.

Bonjour Frank,
je connais cette beauté des Alpes pour y avoir passé quelques jours, une beauté qui me fascine, intacte, grandiose, impressionnante.
Une belles succession d'ogliques gauches et droites, il manque peut-être un petit truc qui accrocherait le regard.
Amicalement.
Daniel.

Hello Frank,
The strong picture, very good composition with elements of the mountainous scenery. Romantic photograph showing the beauty of mountains and the human respect to this environment. And parenthetically I will ask You Frank: Your nick on TE did you connect with this top? Superbly took sharp and raw tops on the background of delicate, blue sky.
Best regards with Mosina,
Jurek

Hallo Frank,

Hi Frank,
Not everyone has a mountain named after himself:). A simple and yet very effective composition with the crossing slopes framing the peaks in the background. A few, but very attractive colours as well!

Hello Frank,
An attractive photo this too, with good POV and framing, perfect exposure and pleasant colours. Good work! Thanks for your usual great note too. Now we know the secret of your nickname. :-)
I can imagine how you felt back then standing on the top of that big mountain!

Mountin shot is always interesting to me and it makes me climb to top...
Good light managment, colors and capture is well... and of course the mountain invites something like climbing to the top..

Hi Frank
I have been enjoying looking at your Austrian views. There are some awesome scenes, and I love seeing the snow and the blue skies - the blue skies are what we have missed here in NZ lately - mostly grey and black!!
The WS 9is good too,
TFS
