Castel St. Angelo: The Hadrian's Mausoleum (ROME)
With its unmistakeable cylindrical contour and particularly scenic position along the shore of the Tiber River, Castel Sant'Angelo is one of the town's most famous landmarks. Its appearance today is the result of a long series of transformations that, in reality, have left no traces of the glorious Roman "Hadrianeum", the mausoleum that Emperor Hadrian built for himself and his successors. Indeed, we must try and imagine an enormous cylinder positioned on a square plan, with a garden top covered with tuff, travertine and copious trees.
In the centre, at the summit of the central tower, there was probably a bronze statue of the Emperor in the guise of the Sun, riding a quadriga. But in medieval times, the mausoleum changed its function as an imperial tomb. Towers and defensive walls were erected during the reign of the Emperor Aurelian and a defensive bastion was built during the barbaric invasions.

Hi Giorgio,
here we go again, when I saw you posted a new one, I had to write you! Especially the sky is awesome, the plants in the foreground look very nice and create a good depth and your POV is well chosen. Great atmosphere, I have to visit this city again soon!

Ciò è superba!
Il cielo scuro urta l'occhio e molto sta minacciando. Tuttavia, la costruzione sembra essere ad una luce relativamente luminosa! Gli alberi della priorità alta incorniciano abbastanza in modo bello il panorama.
Le costruzioni sono dettagliate ed interessante e voi hanno generato una buona profondità del campo per ritrarrli.

Wow! Such a pretty view, and from a perspective I've not seen before. The soft light throughout the shot is fantastic, and the detail in the clouds really sets the scene. Framing the image with foliage and trees was a great idea and it's worked well for me. Great shot, and thanks for sharing

You are so miserable with light that you made the apperture of f/16, and didn't let the light come in, in plenty...........but this act of misery bloomed into a wonderful shot.
Hi, Geroge.......my camera has appeture level up to f/8 and doesn;t allow me this kind of flexibility.
I love the mood and the atmosphere.

hello Giorgio,
I like a lot how you have composed the photo, the tree on the left and the branches in the foreground work really well as a natural frame to this beautiful view on the Eternal City. f/16 gives a good depth of field, from the foreground all the way to the mountains on the horizon, the result is a very strong feeling of a great distance, I like it a lot. the sky certainly adds to the mood of the photo, very nice work.

Hadrian's Mausoleum and Hadrian's Wall side by side in the gallery ... only by accident ... but nonetheless a great coincidence!
I like the dark and somehow dramatic dark sky in your shot and the play of sunlight in the foreground and on the buildings.
But am I wrong or could this image need a little rotation to the right? I am not completely sure about this.
Sharpness, details, POV are good.

Credo di avertelo già scritto: non sopporto le cartoline. Difatti, ovunque io vada nel mondo, non ne spedisco MAI! Ma questa tua foto non lo è: le cartoline sono sempre assolate e perfette, invoglianti il turista a recarsi in un posto, piuttosto che in un altro. Questa tua immagine, minacciosa di tempesta, é proprio tutt'altro...e per questo mi piace molto. Ti saluto, Giorgio.

There are several layers in this image, they give a strong depth effect. The luminosity is magic, it is neither dark nor bright. It is beautiful!

L'intervento sulla metà alta della foto mi sembra eccessivo. In particolare mi sembra un po' troppo evidente la demarcazione orizzontale fra le zone che evidentemente hai differenziato in fase di pp, il che porta ad un innaturale cambiamento nell'albero di destra, accettabilmente luminoso nella parte del tronco e troppo piu' scuro nella chioma. Ti direi di mettere giu' un'altra versione, perchè inquadratura, definizione generale e dettagli vari sono nel tuo ottimo standard abituale.

When looking at the thumbnail I thought this was a photo of a painting. It is a wonderful picture, in particular because of the impressive sky. And the light over the town is superb. Well done.

A differenza di Fantozzi, a te le nuvole sono amiche!.
Dobbiamo cambiare il modo di dire "la nuvoletta dell'impiegato" in la "nuvoletta di Giorgio", ma per esprimere un fatto positivo.
Della foto è stato detto tutto e di più.

che meravigliosa veduta! A parte il pov fantastico e ò'ottima composizione, mi colpisce come in questa foto hdr non sia inutile o pacchiano ma renda la foto davvero simile ad un dipinto. Davvero un piccolo gioiello.
