Photographer’s Note

Although I do not live very far from Espoo Bay, it is not easy to see this special moment of ice breaking in spring. It often lasts just only a couple of hours. If it is calm like at this time, the ice is not breaking into pieces, but is melting into the water gradually. While it is getting thinner and thinner, its colour is changing from light grey to various darker shades and eventually almost black. Then the ice is suddenly away.

I was lucky this time to catch this moment in an early morning.
