Photographer’s Note

A Traditional ice container in the city of Kerman, southeastern Iran. This well preserved structure in deep dug inside. In the old ages, people gathered ice from the mountains and snow falls into this building. Due to the isolation of the structure which is covered by mud, the ice and snow were well preserved until the middle of the summer when people needed ice to offset the heat of the desert. There are plenty of these ice containers in Kerman and in other cities around the central desert of Iran.
