Photographer’s Note
Lest we forget, it is not our mission to pity in life...we are only to live, to accept, to appreciate. A life is full when that life is experienced in every facet of the human drama...A diamond does not shine because of one side alone, it is a combination of the many sides that give this precious stone its brilliance. Remember this the next time you look at your feet when passing a face on the street...maybe, if you said "hello"...

Hi Christopher!
A good shot with a great note. I like the way you framed them, the smilling face of the old man. B&W was a good option.

what a world that would be in which everyone would have that warmth, compassion and sympathy towards another fellow being every day at least once a day, no matter what!
with that look on his face and that smile he is as beautiful as a human being can get, his look speaks volumes - the moment is lovely and your note is just perfect to acompany it!
... may it be 'we'
thanks,
dora

Hey Chris,
You wise man, I really like your contribution, both photographic and philosophic :-) On the photographic side, you have caught the moment so well, there is such warmth and, yes, peace in both expressions, one can catch that so easily just by looking at the profile of the black lady. And next to them this younger passionate couple. This is street photography at its best.
take care,

hi there!
so you are in the club of the night catchers of "poor life" on the streets of america... where the down-to-earth smell of life prevails... where birds do not sing... everything that counts is to survive the night...
love this "rhythm" of your photo...
best, j.

Chris,
your photo has an aura of mystery for me, because I find many things in it that are beautiful and significant, and I know that you can not possibly have predicted all of them... the photo is a mixture of your deliberate art and that element of surprise that photography always brings with it...
The photo has several very suggestive visual rhymes: three pairs of people. One knows each other and is interacting (the couple on the right), the other seems to not know each other but they are also interacting (the main subject in the center), and the pair in the background who don't know each other and are ignoring each other - the usual street passer-by situation.
All this palette of "WE-ness" certainly deserves the word "we" printed there in front of us...
Then the three hands. The one holding the woman on the right, the interaction-gesture of the bearded man, and - surprise? - the one printed there in front of us. Hand is action, and the actions here are all human interaction...
A light shines likes a halo of sanctity above the head of the reaching-out, smiling man. He looks a bit crazy...
But nobody's crazy as long as there's some "we" left in him...

A lump in my throat...
Don't care too much about the world peace...
I'd like to touch his dirty hand...
Hear the sound of his voice...
What a photography, Christopher...
What a great photography that is...

I'll be back Christopher.
I just want, for now, to congratulate you for your 100th post!
Back in I don't know how long...
Five days later... Jeez! I am incurably slow! :)))
I like the "reading" of Mr. Gorod. Not sure I would have notice so many "we" all by myself, though I am a pretty good observer. So, I won't add much to that.
When I see someone achieving his/her 100th post, I always take the time to go check the first photo. Seeing your first post, I realized that I had left a 'critique' (Gosh!) already, in another circumstance. And... phew! I still think what I wrote there! ;)
There is more and more often Christopher Wallish behind your photos...

With admiration,
