Temple of Bel
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Temple of Bel is one of the most in tact remnants of the ancient city of Palmyra, one of the Middle East's premier classical sights and tourist attractions.
The temple was first dedicated in AD45 and rebuilt by Agrippa about a century later. In the 5th century it became a church and was fortified in the 12th century for use as an Arab fortress.
The colours in this photo may seem a bit surreal, however that is due to it being taken in the middle of a sandstorm. That would also explain why the photo itself is not that sharp and a little grainy. |

Hi Julian.
I like your composition. It represents the beauty of the temple. there are many small holes on the temple what are they.
Thank you for sharing.
Cem
Hello Julian,
A very good choice of POV. The sandstorm makes the impressive temple look even more magic. Palmyra is a fantastic place, and because of Syria's reputation as a police state I had it all to myself on a visit in the 90's. Very few tourists seem to go to Syria. I am glad you did.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Julian, good shot, the sandstorm with that cloudy sky gave a dramatic background to the temple, it seems to be in the middle of Mars. Well done, chau chau,
Maria
