Photographer’s Note
an old - probably gipsy - beggar slowly and difficulty walking on central vaci utca....she was moving towards tourists and common people....although her direction rarely meets other people's one

FURTHER TO SOME CRITIQUES I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THE TITLE'S AIM IS TO PROVOKE AND STRESS OUT THE COMMON INDIFFERENCE ATTITUDE.

Such contrasts are becoming more and more common in virtually all cities in the world. (I have even seen it in Japan, not even speaking of Romania :-) And many times, such unfortunate elderly people are not even gypsies, just old folks that cannot survive on their meager pensions. A sad reality of our times.

Ciao Silvio,
Ciao e buon w.e.
Paolo.

Hello Silvio,
Great shot! I like this photo very much. It's very eloquent and shows a lot. The two people in the centre of the photo are most probably Russian tourists.
You managed to capture their mood (and thoughts, too, I guess!)
I reckon, the old woman in front of them is, also most probably, not a gypsy but just, as it was said, a poor one barely making both ends meet and living on a very low pension (if she has one). Or, if we look at her feet, we can guess that she's homeless.
Well, we have lots of such poor people here in Russia. I feel much pity for them but nobody can help them now.
TFS!
best wishes,
Elena

Ciao Silvio,
Uno prende molto dinamico con questo contrasto tra le classi sociali come caratteristica delle grandi città. Eccellente dettagli e colori. Ben visto.
Con i migliori saluti.

Ciao Silvio
An interesting true daily life scene with the capture of the walking tourists who seemed to avoid the poor woman and I can feel the man in FG is slightly disturbed by her presence.
This image shows very well the social contrast...

Ciao Silvio,
An excellent journalistic shot that brought up a question in the street in the capital. I pity her if her misery is true. by the way did you give her something handout.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi

This is unfortunately a more and more common scene in our wealthy countries where more and more people live under the poverty line. They are not only gypsies but also people of all ages like you and me. Humans, I should say who just deserve a little love, dignity, respect and attention. But homeless people are often invisible to our eyes and your picture shows how indifferent people can be to human suffering. This is what you should have revealed in your note. Instead of this you chose a stupid title. Why should we avoid this woman like the plague as if she was a witch ? Besides, I don't understand what's so special about filming poor people. Is misery so beautiful to see ? Did you give her at least a coin for taking her picture without her knowledge ? I hope you never find yourself in this situation.
Ciao

Ciao Silvio,
Saluti carissimi, buon fine settimana.
A presto,
Fulvio.

Hi Silvio:
Great capture but I would have preferred a shallower depth of field.

Old women lost in world of business and civilization. Magnificently devoted contrast between future and past. We pretend, that old age does not concern us, why do?

Well observed... What a contrast !
"COMMON INDIFFERENCE ATTITUDE" : I think it is rather fear of the unknown and uncomprehension, specially given her age ; if the locals don't look, IMHO it is because they feel ashamed or embarrassed - but right, in the same time they are probably thinking of something else...
Complimenti,
Cath.

It could be everywhere even in Valencia . I won´t solve that woman´s problems since we all look very worried and centred on our problems and things and this world is suffering from a galloping deshumanisation . We need being re-educated in certain humanitarian values but the process is irreversible and we need some help , some structures to grasp those situations , some changes in our perceptions and ways of facing our lifes within our communities. I wonder what that woman did wrong in her life to be in that shape dragging her old ill bones along the most touristic street in Pest . States and educational networks and social systems have to cope with this situations of hardship concerning every time to more and more people and it is something we have to feel , learn and internalize from the very beginning (and that's why we need will and help) ...I have noticed solidarian structures and social behaviours in some countries educated in those values (maybe for tradition or owing to their geopolitical location )... but specially Hungary and Hungarian people are more educated in fostering an endemic pessimism and mourn, whining for their lost lands , damned Trianon , putting burdens to his expats Hungarian brothers and sisters in Transilvania , Vojvodina and so on in their attempts to come back to the motherland and set out a new life (they even reject Hungarians living outside Hungary !!!!) ...Insolidarity is common and endemic in that country (i said it with pain but it is true) and it is something sad as i have some strong links to it he Hungarian land through my German-Hungarian couple and those indifferent Hungarian faces turn out something very familiar to me ...And what's worse i guess that woman is not an inmigrant , by sure she is Hungarian as many Hungarian old people are dragging with their bad nourished fleshes with cardboards everywhere through the pearl of the Danube ...Something fails in that country and in that society and those faces make me vomit
