Photographer’s Note
The Yangtze is an active river. Along the shore hundreds of goal shoots dump down coal into many of these boats. This and a heavy industrial smog keeps the view hazed along this great river in China. Rare would be the day a clear image could be taken from this location found within the Three Gorges area of the river.
I have taken the voage both down and up river and each time I am always pleased. There are new things to see and old things to think about with each passing. The water level will soon be at its peak as the Three Gorges dam finally reaches its summit and the waters become stable once again. The passage through the dam is also an interesting experience as it takes 6-8 hours to go though the locks.

Hi Thomas,
Good composition you well represent the air pollution in the river. But I don't understand the thin black line in the middle of the pohoto.
Thanks.

I just love the lines in the horizon, outlining the majestic mountains, and the superb, grayish hues. The ships round up your composition very nicely, and gives us a good feel about this fascinating place.
cheers,

Hello David,
A beautiful image certainly, but especially an indicator of pollution in China. It is a not very common and useful work. Cheer.
Have a nice day

Hi David,
I like this photo for its atmosphere and colour.
The composition is very good. the boats in the background are a nice accent for the boat which is in the foreground. Thus a certain depth of the image is created (my opinion as an amateur painter:))
Generally, an impressive picture!
I guess there's a bit of noise in the photo, though... I wonder what the photo would look like if the noise is removed?
best regards,
Elena
PS I've made an experiment with the photo, con permisso :) Some noise removal. I'll post it in Workshop.

hello David,
My word, the smog is some deal. I do not envy the athletes who have to contend with such smoggy conditions during the Olympics.
This image has a very good DOF and really round up a lovely composition. The hazy lines of the mountains are interesying.
I use Neat Image for noise. A very good program.
have a good weekend,
Joni

This photo has a special atmosphere. Recently I have read about China and role of rivers there (and their pollution as well), this picture seems to convey a message. Well done!

Hello David
This is a beautiful image, I like those csmbios color of the same tone as the effect of magic will clarify as the image becomes more profound.
The result is buenisimo and draw a small defect will tell you that I think is a little noise, anyway is just an assessment and does not change my thinking, photography is very good note.
Excellent work

I was drawn by this image because of the smog. I like the way you've captured the mystery of the place with the boats moving into the distance and the mountains fading into the smog. It reminds me of trying to photograph Scotland in the fog and mists.
