Photographer’s Note
I don't know the name of steet (looking on Google Earth i think that it's Amoy Street, maybe!)...i don't remember the day, i think it was September, i'm sure about the year, 1996, my first travel in Malaysia and then in Singapore, but I don't know anything about that day...what we did?
What we visit?
Are we went to the Raffles Hotel to drink a Singapore Slim?
Or are we went to visit Chinatown or Little India or Arab Street?
We had a dinner on the Boat Quay or somewhere in the city?
We met someones? What we bought around the markets?
What we did in the morning, we had visited Temples or Mosques? the Orchid Gardens?
Or we had a terrifiant afternoon inside one of the giant mall?
What we did 12 year ago in Singapore....

Hi Paolo!
Beautiful photo, excellent vertical framing and composition, but most important, a fabled, "retro" atmosphere! Congratulations!

Ciao Paolo.
Mi chiedo anch'io cos'abbia fatto tu a Singapore in quel lontano 1996. Vuoi che ne parliamo? Sai, parlarne aiuta.:-)
I toni del bianco e nero danno un tono onirico a questa vista, quasi a rendere l'idea dell'imperfezione della memoria, in perfetta sintonia coi toni dubitativi e sfumati della nota.
Ciao.
Bobo.

Hej Paolo, the first thing that makes photo a bit ancient is the models of the car. (suppose theres a lot of toyotas and maybe some of the malaysian Protons. I my self haven't been in singapore since mid 80's and at that time all the action was on Bugy street and the "cheap" Losmens, crash pads on Bencoolen street if I remember right and this is probably in the area ( my mind is start running away from me) but at that time Orchard road was a street full of miscellaneous whorehouses and god knows what you could found there.
I like anyway when people posting picture that allso looks back a bit because to travel is allso away to understand history and to becaming a part of it.

You should keep a journal Paolo! :) The retro look works well with the grainy B&W, although I do believe there was colour film available in 1996. ;)(You set the date wrong on the left) The perspective view leads the eye all the way through the image to the highrise at the end of the street. Well done; your archives are never-ending.

Ciao Paolo,
foto e nota perfettamente in sintonia. Toni sfumati ed improntati al dubbio, la sensazione di un qualcosa che sta per succedere o forse e` gia` successo, l'atmosfera meravigliosamente retro accentuata dal bianconero granuloso...
La via assomiglia spaventosamente a Chartres Street, New Orleans, Louisiana... Un'altra citta` in cui il dubbio e` un modo di vivere.
Bravissimo!
Buon fine settimana, e a risentirci.
Saluti carissimi,
Fulvio.

Hello Paolo,
Every know that a scanned image not so easy for make and absolutely not easy for presentation.
But you create excellent depth and show the skyscraper in background as end of the picture.
Very well done.
Have a nice weekend,
John.

Bonsoir,
