Photographer’s Note
While traveling on the BC Ferry to Vancouver Island I came across this opportunity to capture this sailboat in the Georgia Straight.
What I really like about this photo is its simplicity and the contrasting overcast blue tone in the background and the red sails on the boat.
Enjoy!

Hi Paul,
Great to see you back. Yes, there's lots of blue here, but it sure helps to draw undivided attention to that sailboat. I really like the vertical perspective and the feature is perfectly placed. TFS. Gerald

The mountains look gigantic compared to the boat. I like the blue hazy tones. Excellent composition.

Hi Paul, You have captivated the peaceful mood in this photo brilliantly, the truly gorgeous mountain backdrop, the perfect title of the calm sea & the added extra of the strong red sail, all together work beautifully, kind regards Wilson.

You are right Paul, I also like it very much: An almost monochrome picture with a touch of red on the sail.

Talk about interesting DOF! AT first I thought it looked really compressed, but now I see a lot of depth around 100 yards either side of the boat, making it look like a model. Very interesting stuff. Anyway, great shot and thanks to you. Regards, TW

hi Paul
The faded look of the BG is really making this shot very much looking like an old printed photograph. Very interesting to see the sail in red standing out in this pov. Perhaps my comment is the central position of the sail, but that is just minor.

Almost as if there were two different world : the quiet sea and the huge moutains. And only the red sail to produce contrast... Very well composed.

Hello, Paul!
Very nice landscape with a strong and saturated boat on the foreground and very moody atmosphere in the background. It makes the perspective very deep and attractive.

Greg
