Photographer’s Note

Vienna is the capital city of Austria. This city has had great historical significance for the development of Europe; it was the seat of the Habsburg dynasty which ruled much of the continent during the 16th century, and is better known as the Holy Roman Empire. The city was the gateway to Europe for the Turks, but they failed to capture it siege after siege.

The church seen in this picture, the Stephansdom, was the tallest building of the world during the 16th century. It stands 139 meters tall, and is still one of the tallest towers of Austria.
