Photographer’s Note
Over the period of many years, the changing course of the meandering Cuckmere River which flows into the English Channel between Eastbourne and Seaford, has left several areas of still water which are known as oxbow lakes. This photograph shows one of these shallow stretches of water.
Along the coast are the Seven Sisters, a series of white chalk cliffs, one of which can be seen in the background here.
Taken as JPEG: PP in PS7 and FastStone.

Hello Peter,
We are near neighbours today.
This is just beautiful! The colours grabbed my attention first and then the beautifully balanced composition. The diagonal grassy f/g balanced perfectly by the grassy headland in the distance is very pleasing to the eye.
A wonderful interaction of blues and greens!
kind regards,
Bev :-)

This is heaven not haven! such a splendid place and photo!
Really a great shot, an orgy of green. Very good composition that leaves 1/3 to the sky giving therefore a good sense of depth.
Bravo,
Donato

Hallo Peter!
A beautiful, calm and near to nature landscape. One can imagine the abyss behind this scenery here. These white cliffs create a wonderful effect here. This must be a very special and fascinating place.

Hi Peter,
I can feel that is is a motive chosen by a painter! There are many elements here that are very attractive in colour and form. This motive doesn´t require too many colours on the palette. The different surfaces seem to be manageable.
Did you, by the way, try to paint this beautiful scenery?
Greetings from Gothenburg

Hello, Peter.
Wonderful!
Superb composition here, with those diagonal lines of grass in the foreground leading up to the horizontal lines in the middle, giving the picture great depth. And all those lines lead the eye convincingly to the sharp cliffs in the distance.
The colours are beautiful and the polariser has brought out the seep blue of the sky, nicely reflected in the still water. I think the same filter has banished relections in the foreground water, so we can see the bottom here - a nice contrast.
Excellent!
Best Wishes,
John.

Hi Peter,
Contrasts between green and blue are fantastic. Green ridge and white cliffs are creates a splendid view while adding small lake and reeds in perfect clarity with natural colors and sharpness. Congratulations.

Hi Peter.
Time for another visit. You seem to have achieved mastery of this camera and PP. This is an absolute beauty, deserving of more recognition. I love the colours and the composition with its various diagonals. Marvellous little reflection of the white cliffs, too. The little white flowers at the bottom add something, too. Very smooth, high quality finish on this excellent photo. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew
BTW, those little ox-bow lakes are what are called billabongs in Australia.

Very impressive Peter. I can't really add anything useful to what has already been stated by others. The reflection of the cliffs in the water is a great little detail.

Hello Peter,
This drew my attention for its colourful 'layered' composition - each layer with its own texture. Just enough of the blue sky to balance the rest of the picture without dominating it - and it is nice to see its colour repeated through the picture courtesy of the reflections.
Best wishes....Maggie

Hi Peter,
This shot is better than your other version taken 50 yards to the left, which surprises me. I usually like the natural colours but these greens really stand out, but not so much that they look overdone. This looks like a nice area. I must visit it one day.

Peter,
This is a great landscape with wonderful color! Your composition and POV are great! I like the inclusion of the marshy area in the foreground leading the eye to the cliffs in the back. The lighting is great as is the sharpness and detail.

Asa
