Photographer’s Note
I lived in Astoria, Oregon for a couple months back in 2004. At the bottom of the hill where I lived, there were a bunch of old buildings and there was always this beautiful red Chevy Nova parked out front. It looked like such a classic scene, and I wanted to photograph it the first time I saw it, but there were always cars parked in front and behind the Nova. I finally found the car alone just before sunrise one morning. I took many shots of the car and storefronts, but I wasn't quite satisfied. I decided to try some longer exposures and include the blurred lights from the passing traffic, which I think adds a slight sense of motion.

Hi Stephen,
I like the whole old fashined feeling of this shot, and I do think that the blurred lines of the cars going passed adds something to the image together with the blur movement of the flag. Nice details on the buildings too.

Love it, Stephen. I like the blurred lights, as I do think it adds motion (of time) in the photo. The blur works against you though in the flag, as I wish the "americana" were crisper. All in all, very nice. Cheers.

Great photo and composition. I agree with the lights. They add mystery to the photo. The photo seems both classic and yet ordinary, maybe an appreciation of the everyday scenes that add character to a place. Excellent choice.
