Photographer’s Note
If you will land in Calgary with good weather (which is rather the rule) this is the view you'll have from the airport.
Built in the middle of an agricultural area, at the border between prairie and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the 100 year old city is the centre of the thriving oil and gas industry in Alberta. All major banks and oil corporations are represented by a skyscraper downtown. That is of course not what attracts the tourists to Calgary, but the famous national parks which start just 100 km away in the Rocky Mountains.

nice shot and POV and a coprehensive note. I would use slightly tighter crop without that much blue sky on the top and you probably lost some sharpness during downsizing

Ah this is ware all the oil crooks hide! nice photo. Its to bad they get to live in such a clean lovely place, when you consiter how badly the polute the rest of (our) wourld. If they had a contious they mite feel some shame in that... But they don't.

Beautiful perspective, nice composition! The picture is a bit grainy but the colours are vibrant. A beautiful place with the high mountains in the background.

on dirait presque un montage tellement ça parait bizarre de voir des buildings dans ce paysage.
Magnifique photo

This is really nice. The way some cities rise from fields is really a great contrast. It brings the countryside and city into such a clash. Like it rises directly from the farm fields. This has really captured that feeling perfectly. It gives the city a very fresh and clean feel. And this day is amazing. That we can see the mountains almost as clearly and sharply as the city just adds to the crisp feel of the air. The sky just adds to that even more so and gives a nice perspective back to the skyscrapers. It's a bit noisy but I don't mind it since the colors and crispness of atmosphere are just great. Nice job.

Jaime beaucoup la sensation d'espace de cette photo, de la campagne aux portes de la ville. Beau cadrage et lumière juste.

Very good photo Roland. The city of Calgary sandwiched between nature. Very interesting to see such contrasts. The colours are a bit less impressive, especially the sky. But I know it can be difficult to handle scans.

Interesting 3 levels DOF / landscape
- the (empty ) prairie
- the (crowdy ) city
- The ( wild ) rockies

It's difficult to imagine a rather futuristic cityscape with a pastoral foreground. But I'm looking at it. You must have had imagined this before you got it right Roland. They say, a good photographer knows before he sees it.

Special view with this field and the mountains in the back, great idea to present Calgary in that manner, maybe a landscape format would have work great also, maybe for next time, well seen anyway.

Let me see Calgary - there was a Olympic winter game back in ... never mind very fine composition showing how this city embedded in the country and landscape - thanks Roland - a fine job.

A beautiful mood and tone here. I love the rural/urban contrast. Just go digi. I came to India with 80 rolls of provia; haven't use one yet :)
