Photographer’s Note
A Slice of Bryce
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, USA
A gratuitous slice of this famous Western Park, as seen from the Peekaboo trail, shooting straight into the late afternoon sun.
Perhaps the real photographic challenge of this place is to come up with something which doesn't look like this! Hard to resist though. (You'll know what I mean, when your memory card is full).

Bonjour Colin,
Très belle image d'un site très connu mais toujours aussi beau. Une curiosité naturelle impressionnante. Il faut que j'aille voir ça une prochaine fois.
Excellente prise de vue.
Amitiés.

Hello Colin
Natural oranges from Bryce, this is a beast of a place for sunrises and sunsets, looks like the light was good to you for at 4:15, it was bloody harsh for me at this time. Comp, sharpness is also very good. Top and bottom black border finishes capture well.

Hi Colin!
Playing with words - a slice of Bryce - but not playing with the quality of the photograph: beautiful and natural colors, great sharpness and POV!
What a beautiful spot on Earth! Beautiful landscape!
TFS - Congratulations!

This slice of Bryce you've captured nice.
Okay, that's a stupid rhyme, but you really have captured the essence of Bryce' light.
Your note is also correct in that it's almost impossible to find an original view in this bowl, but you have one of the better shots from this angle I've seen.
Well done.

Hi Colin,
Nice shot of Bryce. Good colors, sharpness, and details. I think the mix of greens and golden spires is striking and well done. TFs. Gerald

Colin,
A great image of my belove national park, I have been here many times and still was awed by it's beauty and the great art work of mother nature. I love the rich tone and adequately saturated color of the red rocks. Great sharpness and clarity over all, even in the shade. The texture of the rocks nicely shown and good composition as well. Cheers and thanks.

Hi Colin,
Looking at the photos from this place, there seems to be a fare variety, not all looking the same. I like your framing with more solid looking rock face in the background. And those red pillars are wonderfully luminous. Really special place.

Hi Colin
Who can resist the charms of Bryce and even if you take similar photos that have been taken a million times before, you will still want to do it for yourself in the hope that you have put your own stance into it.
And this is a charming slice of Bryce, with wonderful light hitting on the rocks especially the ones in the foreground. Beautiful contrast between the green trees and the red rocks, and good sharpness showing us all of the wondeful textures.
Regards
Derek

Hi Colin,
This is a very classical view of Bryce Canyon, but you've captured a wonderful light. The sharness is remarkable and shows the details of these amazing rock formations. I visited Bryce 20 years ago, but unfortunately when I got home I discovered that all my film from that trip was over exposed, probably due to some faulty X-ray security machine in an airport (fortunately it's the only trip during which that happened).
Have a nice Sunday.

Incredibel beautiful. The moment was just perfect because the light is so soft that show every detail of this amazing place. I like your composition without sky.
Best regards

Hi Colin,
This is an image I think any nature/landscape photographer would love to have in their portfolio, and with so many very original pictures in your gallery I’m sure there’s room for a few classics!
I particularly like the well-balanced composition of this one with the intersecting diagonal lines of the hoodoos, the saturated colours, but most of all the fantastic late afternoon light that makes the rock formations seem to glow from within.
I’m off in early July for a three-week trip around the southwest US and Bryce is well up there on my list of places to visit. Of course seeing pictures like this makes me even more eager to be off!
Starting from your US pictures, I’m enjoying slowly working my way through your fascinating gallery – you have a lot of very inspiring and original work in there.
Regards
John

Colin,
I am not sure just how many Bryce Canyon shots I have critiqued but it is many. That said this is one of the most interesting landscapes I can imagine. Your shot is better than most I think, the details are awesome and the colors are well saturated and because there is nothing in the frame that is overexposed or overly bright this one is definitely a great one.

Good composition Chris for this shot. The light seems to pick out the lovely textures and colours of the rocks, and the green of the trees really complements this.
Great PoV.
