Underneath the cloudy skies of grey
In the frozen times of winter
A dismal blanket of fog approaches
To shroud a mystic realm with gloom

A feeling of misery enwraps us
In a trance we depart
To a darker shade of consciousness
From where we are worlds apart

Sometimes the cold grey sky
warms the soul like fire
When the dawn no longer sheds
its blinding light of day

After the storm has lifted the darkness never fades
For a dismal winter day shall always shed its grey...

hello Korkut,

At first, the thought of a rainy day is very uninspiring! And yet, you have turned this into a view worth looking at!
The red umbrellas draw the eyes in straight away! They turn a dismal day into quite a fun day!
The trees are good natural frames and the horizontal lines divide the horizontal for interesting composition.

I think you saw the colour addition and capture this, since that kind of photography can be seen in many of your photos.

I like the mood here, I'll create a WK after work, to desaturate the rest of the scene, and keep the red colour on top

The oppositions create harmony The dark colours with the fog become cheerful with red. The composition with dull atmosphere takes brightness, the thin lines becomes artistic interventions. Very good it is? or made magic??=)) tricks, the photographer.. I like this work.

It's a pity you hadn't already put a bet on saying you were going to take a shot with 5 RED umbrellas. You would have got fantastic odds and cleaned the bookmaker out! ;D
The framing with the two trees is also perfect with the group well placed between them; you know how I like space in front of people to walk into like you have here. Great shot. Well done

Korkut,
my first impression seeing the thumbnail is that you did a selected desaturation but I was corrected as soon as I saw the real image. Did you consider a selected desaturation. The cluster of the red umbrellas is a good and funny detail and makes the whole image. Difficult to decide which line to use as a reference without giving the sense of a tilt.

Sadece resim güzel değil, çağrıştırdıkları da. Sevgili eşim'le 40 sene evvel balayımızı geçirdiğimiz yer Como... Sen Mart'da çekmişsin biz Temmuzda oradaydık ve bir aralar burada da satılan Muratti markalı bir sigaranın tanıtımı yapılıyordu köyde. Reklam kampanyasının simgesi Maurice Chevallier'in ünlü, kırmızı bantlı hasır şapkası idi; herkezin (biz de dahil) başında o şapkalardan vardi.
Şimdi bu kırmızı şemsiyeler de o şapkaları anımsattı.
Şiir gibi bir kare, arka planın sisleri, ön plandaki 6 silüet muhteşem. Kare'nin tamamı çinli bir ustanın fırçasından çıkmış suluboya resim gibi.

Harika bir kompozisyon. Gri ve sisli arka plan ve kırmızı şemsiyeler dolu bir ön plan harika kontrast oluşturmuş. Atmosferi, renkleri ve kompozisyonu ile nefis bir kare. Muhteşem güzellikte bir resim. Ben Akdeniz İtalyasını, yani güneyi seven biri olarak Kuzey'den de enfes fotoğraflar çıkabileceğini bu karede gördüm. Ayrıca sabır isteyen bir çalışma aynı zamanda. Çünkü böyle bir sisli havayı bulacaksınız, iki ağacın karşısında pusuya yatacaksınız, kırmızı şemsiyeli bir grubun gelmesini bekleyeceksiniz. Ya tam sabır işi, ya da güzel bir tesadüfü değerlendirebilen usta bir göz. Her iki durumda da tebrikler.

Natural partial desaturation, Korkut? :D I see that you continue to be a true artist in finding original photographic situations from the ordinary world around us. And most of the times in terrible dark conditions. These red umbrellas shinne like sweet candies in the unconfortable wet. Good framing bettween the grown up tree and its child.

Turkish umbrellas cheering up the Italian depression. The gloomy weather reminds me a lot of Hamburg. Very nice shot, not of your strongest though.
The sky on the top is burned and the red umbrellas look a bit too empties … a crescent and a star would probably help here. >:P

Ah yes! This is the kind of shots you look at and know it's good at the first sight. I almost passed it for BW with the reds untouched, but then I saw the yellow thing about 1/3 down and left that distracted me. Like steliosk said, a WS is needed to desaturate the rest of the photo.
